Frequently asked questions

Remedial massage goes beyond relaxation—it’s a targeted treatment that identifies and corrects areas of tension, pain, and imbalance in the body. Techniques such as deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release are used to improve mobility and support healing. While relaxation massage focuses on calming the nervous system, remedial massage does that and helps restore function and alignment.

Cupping is an ancient Chinese practice that uses glass or silicone cups to create gentle suction on the skin. This draws blood and lymphatic fluid to the surface, releasing tight fascia and stagnant energy. The result is improved circulation, reduced muscle tension, and a feeling of lightness throughout the body. It’s an effective therapy for anyone experiencing tightness, fatigue, or chronic pain.

Yes, temporary circular marks can appear after a cupping session. They’re not bruises, but signs of increased circulation and the body’s natural healing response. These marks typically fade within 2–5 days, depending on your skin type and the level of stagnation released.

Cupping should never feel painful. Most clients describe it as a gentle pulling or stretching sensation that quickly becomes deeply relaxing. Dory adjusts the level of suction to suit your comfort and sensitivity, ensuring a restorative and safe experience.

If you’re feeling general tension, stress, or soreness, start with a Remedial Massage.

If you experience deeper muscle tightness, inflammation, or want to support detoxification and recovery, try Chinese Cupping Therapy or the 90-minute Cupping + Massage combination. Dory can also recommend the best approach during your session.

For ongoing stress, posture issues, or training recovery, most clients benefit from sessions every 2–4 weeks. If you’re using massage as part of your Pilates and wellness routine, a monthly session is ideal for maintaining muscle balance, flexibility, and overall wellbeing.

At Encore, we only use premium, natural, non-toxic oils and balms—gentle on the skin, nourishing for the body, and free from synthetic fragrances or parabens. Every detail is chosen to support your health and relaxation.

If you are going to Pilates and massage on the same day we recommend you do your Pilates session first and enjoy your massage after. It’s not the end of the World and everyone responds differently so if you prefer your massage first we will help you consider a gentle Pilates class to follow that focuses on releasing any remaining tension.

While you can not claim on private health funds with us, our massage and cupping servcies are priced so that you get great value for money and a service that you deserve.
